Our Distinctives

The statement of “Core Distinctives” highlights distinguishing marks of our life together as a church. By God’s grace we strive to be characterized by:

Word

We purpose to study, to practice, and to declare all of God’s Word together so that we might grow in our knowledge of and delight in God. Because Christ is King of all, we want to strive to see all of our lives and all of the world in subjection to Him, to the praise of His glorious grace.

To that end, we see the weekly gathering at the Table known as the Lord’s Supper as a vital part of our life together. As the visible word of the gospel, the communion we have with God in the Lord’s Supper is the climax of our Sunday gathering, from which we go out into the world ready for another week of work.

Discipleship

We purpose to make disciples of Christ through evangelism in obedience to the commission that Christ gave the Church, and to bring the lost into the body of Christ through baptism.

We also purpose to grow up into the maturity of Christ by realizing our new family bonds in Him and building up one another in love. Using the gifts that God has given us, we are committed to the ongoing discipleship that is a part of the Christian life, especially that of the older generation discipling the younger generation.

Song

We purpose to joyfully magnify the splendor of God together through the regular singing of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. In response to all that God has done for us in Christ, we endeavor to always be found with songs of praise to Him on our lips. We believe that this is an important means by which the Spirit fills His Church, as well as a significant component of the spiritual warfare we are to wage against the devil and his hosts.
